Para cumplir con este objetivo la investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cualitativo y un diseño de Investigación en el Aula, que permitió intervenir una población de 20 estudiantes de séptimo grado a los cuales se les aplicó una prueba inicial haciendo uso del ensayo académico. Con los resultados se diseñó una intervención basada en aspectos propios de la comprensión lectora, para mejorar la argumentación y posteriormente se aplicó la prueba final que dio cuenta del mejoramiento de los estudiantes en aspectos como la ortografía, la puntuación, el manejo del tamaño de la letra, la ubicación espacial de las letras, el manejo de la norma, es decir, en los aspectos de forma, pero también se obtuvieron alentadores resultados en los aspectos de fondo como la creatividad, la motivación y el interés en la lectoescritura, pudiéndose advertir en el ensayo final el mejoramiento de la argumentación como eje central de la investigación.The main objective of this research was to determine the incidence of reading comprehension in the development of argumentative competences in students of the seventh grade of the San Francisco school in the municipality of Tuluá, in 2018, due to academic, social and personalities identified by the faculty and related to the lack of an eloquent dialogue, with logical and respectful argumentative features. To fulfill this objective, the research was developed with a qualitative approach and a Research Design in the Classroom, which allowed the intervention of a population of 20 seventh-grade students who were given an initial test using the academic essay.
