After knowing the problematic of the population object of study, the implementation of reading strategies was adopted in order to improve the metacognitive processes in English reading texts comprehension; and besides that, each of the strategies is specifically described in the methodological design. It is also worth mentioning that the state of art, the literary references and more precisely, the studies and theories raised by the authors were taken into account in the investigative process. The research project lasted six months and took place at the faculty of Health Sciences premises. It is important specifying that, the population object of study was composed of fifty-five students, males and females of the first semester. Finally, the protocol of this program included a diagnostic evaluation, likewise the self-control of metacognitive strategies by reading scientific texts, the mathematical results analysis of the applied tests, the respective conclusions and suggestions, in that order, it should be noted that, in the research process and methodology, was taken into account the previous experiences of the population object of study compared to the evaluated readings; each one of these specifications are grounded by statistical evidence, photographs and documents.Strategiesmetacognitivereading comprehensionEl propósito central del presente estudio investigativo estuvo direccionado en la aplicación estrategias metacognitivas para la comprensión de textos escritos en inglés en los estudiantes de primer semestre de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, de la Universidad Central del Valle (UCEVA). Una vez diagnosticado y conocida la problemática en la población objeto de estudio, se pasó a la implementación de estrategias lectorales para fortalecer los procesos metacognitivos en la comprensión de textos en inglés, por su parte, cada una de estas estrategias se describe de manera específica en el diseño metodológico. Ahora conviene, mencionar que en el proceso investigativo se tuvo en cuenta el estado del arte y los referentes literarios, más exactamente, los estudios y teorías planteadas por los autores abordados. Dicho proyecto de investigación se prolongó durante seis meses y se llevó a cabo en las instalaciones de las aulas de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud. Ahora bien, vale la pena especificar que la población objeto de estudio estuvo conformada por cincuenta y cinco estudiantes (mixto), de primer semestre.
