description Esta tesis explora el impacto de los materiales auténticos en la mejora de las habilidades de escritura entre los estudiantes de séptimo grado en una escuela pública colombiana en Bogotá. Se empleó un enfoque metodológico mixto, incorporando pre-tests, post-tests y encuestas para recoger datos sobre cómo el uso de textos del mundo real, como blogs, diarios y materiales auténticos culturalmente relevantes, influyó en la motivación, confianza y competencia escritora de los estudiantes. El estudio comienza con una revisión bibliográfica sobre el papel de los materiales auténticos en la adquisición de la lengua, en particular de la escritura, seguida de una metodología detallada para evaluar el progreso de los estudiantes antes y después de la introducción de estos materiales. Se analizan los resultados de las pruebas previas y posteriores para determinar las mejoras en las capacidades de escritura, y las encuestas evalúan las percepciones de los alumnos sobre la relevancia y eficacia de los materiales tras su aplicación. Los resultados indican que la integración de materiales auténticos aumenta significativamente el compromiso y el interés de los alumnos, lo que contribuye al desarrollo y la mejora de las destrezas de escritura. La exposición a contenidos culturalmente relevantes fomenta una comprensión y un aprecio más profundos de la lengua. La tesis concluye con recomendaciones para los educadores sobre la incorporación eficaz de materiales auténticos en las prácticas docentes para mejorar los resultados educativos.

A mixed-method approach was employed, incorporating pre-tests, post-tests, and surveys to collect data on how the use of real-world texts, such as blogs, journals, and culturally relevant authentic materials, influenced students' motivation, confidence, and writing proficiency. The study starts with a literature review on the role of authentic materials in language acquisition, particularly writing, followed by a detailed methodology for assessing students' progress before and after the introduction of these materials. Results from the pre-and post-tests are analyzed to determine improvements in writing abilities, and surveys assess students' perceptions of the materials' relevance and effectiveness after their application. The findings indicate that integrating authentic materials significantly enhances student engagement and interest, which contributes to the development and improvement of writing skills.
