In this work, we present the results of Cr and CrN coatings deposited using unbalanced magnetron sputtering at different substrate temperatures. In both cases the diffraction peaks showed slight shifts as a function of substrate temperature. These shifts could be an indicative of the presence of compressive stress, which increases with temperature. Additionally, the analyses of scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that the coated surfaces at temperatures and lt; 500 oC, are characterized mainly by a morphology with a smooth appearance, compact, homogeneous and displayed columnar growth, without evidence neither of microcracking nor delamination. This behavior suggests that in this temperature range, there is a slight dependence on the substrate temperature. On the contrary, samples prepared at 500 oC showed the presence of larger grains and a more compact growth. |

Los recubrimientos fueron producidos a diferentes temperaturas (100, 300 y 500oC) sobre acero AISI H13 y silicio (100). Los recubrimientos con espesores and lt; 1μm fueron analizados por Difracción de Rayos X (DRX) y Microscopía Electrónica de Barrido (SEM). Los picos de difracción en los espectros de rayos X de ambos recubrimientos presentaron leves corrimientos en función de la temperatura del sustrato, lo que sería indicativo de la presencia de esfuerzos compresivos, los cuales incrementan con el aumento de la temperatura. Adicionalmente los análisis por SEM, mostraron que las superficies recubiertas a temperaturas and lt; 500 oC, están caracterizadas principalmente por una morfología con apariencia lisa, compacta, homogénea y con crecimiento columnar; sin evidencia de microgrietas, ni delaminación, lo que sugiere, en este rango de temperaturas, una leve influencia de la temperatura del sustrato.
