At the moment to decide among a test separator and a multiphase flowmeter for the flow measurement of a well
it should consider aspects such technical and economical. In order to evaluate this aspects
was developed a methodology of selection
in which its state of the art was mainly based on the British Standard 1704 "Guide for the selection and application of flowmeter for the measurement of fluids in close conduits" and the Journal e in which it has a conventional system of separation working
but its test separator is obsolete and it desired to analyse if it is more profitable to long term replace for a multiphase flowmeter or continue with the conventional system. To the issues raised was necessary to quote a test separator with the previous characteristics and a suitable multiphase flowmeter for the conditions to the field and afterward to calculate the Incremental Net Present Value (INPV) of both systems. This calculation shows an INPV of $ -125831 dollars indicating that it should continue with the conventional system. Likewise
the methodology used to analyse the case when it has not implemented any measurement system.
