The low oil price in the hydrocarbon industry forced to seek new practices that allow: reduce costs
optimize processes and improve efficiency in the operation of the different types of plays (especially in unconventional reservoirs
whose development has been stalled because of the high costs associated with their operation) without neglecting the sustainable development of oil industry. In URP (Unconventional Resource Plays) wastewater management is a very important practice which should be focused on meeting these challenges. To choose the right method of wastewater management in URP
several factors should be considered (environmental
operational and economic factors) in order to find the most efficient method for each particular case. Thanks to lessons learned during the development of URP in United States is possible to make this analysis to choose a method of disposal
avoiding long-term negative consequences that may arise because important factors are not considered. Given the importance of integrating all possible factors to achieve find the most efficient method available for each well
the development of a tool to help the operator makes the most efficient decisions regarding the management of residual water is necessary.
