This research job proposed a methodology aimed to increase oil production in mature fields. in order to accomplish this an organized step by step sequence was presented
the objectives of this methodology are to develop a diagnosis of the field and to elaborate a set of proposals economically feasible and able to boost oil production and reduce the water cut. After explaining the developed methodology
this was applied on a database corresponding to a colombian foothills oilfield
showing each stage of the optimization process
from the well diagnosis based on the heterogeneity index criteria
that divided the wells in perforating and water shutoff candidates. The methodology was also used to propose stimulation jobs with a helpful decision matrix that allowed to select the most suitable wells for these jobs and then to quantify
with the use of analogies
the effects that each one of the planned proposals would have in the fluids production. Finally
the last job done was a financial analysis of the planned proposals to assure that only the profitable proposals make it to the end. The implementation in the study field resulted in 14 concrete optimization proposals
all of them technically feasible and besides profitable.
