This monograph encompasses the multimodal transport in Colombia
citing the history of this method and the dependence of the Magdalena River for this purpose. Nowadays multimodal transport is considered as priority for the economic development of the country
since the logistics competitiveness has been ended up to lower costs and short delivery times. Different companies
in Colombia
have contributed financially to support works that help to recover this watercourse. This companies have invested in draft

and port infrastructure recovery
which are present along the riverbank. This project is an important opportunity to increase the economy in Colombia
since it would reduce transportation costs
specially for companies that extract oil and export their own product though the caribbean coast. Additionally
companies that import supplies will benefit since their products would be imported through the river and it would diminish risk of loss. It is known that oil industry is facing an economic crisis
