The aim of this graduation project is to contribute with the academic development of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Industrial University of Santander through a cutting and engraving computer controlled laser beam machine that can be used as a complement to the learning experience of students in different areas of their career. In addition to the development of student projects. The laser cutting machine is constituted by two stepper motors
which move a laser lens in a plane with XY coordinates
the positioning of these motors is controlled by a card that receives the signal from the computer. The laser beam is directed by a mirror system until it reaches the work table

description El objetivo de este trabajo de grado es contribuir con el desarrollo académico de la Escuela de Ingeniería Mecánica de la Universidad Industrial de Santander mediante una máquina de corte y grabado con rayo láser controlada por computador que pueda utilizarse como complemento en la formación de los estudiantes en diferentes áreas y asignaturas de la carrera. Además con el desarrollo de proyectos estudiantiles. La máquina cortadora láser está constituida por dos motores paso a paso, los cuales mueven un lente de enfoque láser en un plano de coordenadas XY, el posicionamiento de estos motores es controlado por una tarjeta que recibe la señal del computador. El rayo láser es dirigido por un sistema de espejos hasta llegar a la mesa de trabajo, su pulso y alimentación es controlado por una fuente de energía. El calor que genera el láser se refrigera por medio de agua transportada por una bomba centrífuga. El documento consta del desarrollo del proyecto, comenzando con la definición de un diseño conceptual claro, que permita una selección concisa de los subsistemas que conforman la máquina, la selección del rayo láser adecuado y su sistema óptico, la bomba y el sistema de refrigeración, los motores paso a paso, la tarjeta de control, la fuente de alimentación y el software que controlará la máquina por medio del computador, hasta la simulación del comportamiento de las partes críticas de la máquina cuando se someten a fuerzas por medio del software SOLIDWORKS. Con base en las especificaciones previas, se estableció un diseño acorde a los parámetros establecidos, y se establecieron métodos de calibración y de prueba del equipo. Se acordaron protocolos de seguridad, ajuste, funcionamiento y mantenimiento que aseguraran un adecuado funcionamiento de la máquina.
