Each collection center for recyclable materials received approximately 80 tons of these materials weekly
of which 43% fail in conditions to continue in the cycle of recycling and which are sent to landfills
increasing the existing problems of the open dumps that affect pollution of groundwater and proliferate diseases to the surrounding inhabitants. The VIS belong to socioeconomic levels 1 and 2
where only 20% of the waste generated can be recycled
but the 100 thousand free housing project of the national government is indicative of the extent of this social group
and the importance of working plans in these communities in the management of solid waste. This project involves the design
construction and validation of a system that optimizes the process of classification of non-organic
non-hazardous solid waste
in social housing (VIS)
this is the minimum work to be undertaken by communities to impact positively on the plans of solid waste management. The integrated system
DARS
is a tool that consists of a plastic bottles manual compactor
two containers and a colander
allowing basic classification at source
optimizing space implemented for this work and increasing the density of materials which can become raw material recycled.
