In today's world
the oil and gas industry sees in the development of new technologies for the exploitation of unconventional reservoirs
a solution to the global energy demand; In this sense
the geomechanical features can have significant importance for modeling and between the fracture toughness which is described in its abbreviated form as "KIC" stands out and means coefficient of resistance to fracture this is a extracting relevant for raw parameter unconventional and the petrophysical analysis of fractured systems and processes well stimulation. In order to analyze the behavior of fractures in each of the processes that are involved rocks
this project aims to select a practical
fast
economical and easy to implement
to calculate KIC methodological process; whereas its determination through traditional methods can be arduous
a route alternative called fracture indentation (IF) which has been widely accepted and studied by different authors among them
Weisbrod & Rittel (2000)
Plaza (2003) proposed Evans & Charles (1976)
Niihara et al.
(1982). The IF test provides valuable information for the evaluated sample and does not destroy it; this test is based on a penetration test called Vickers indentation by which a crack is obtained in the study sample and applying a mathematical relationship finally KIC is obtained. .
