Summary: | ABSTRACT: Historical memory, as diffused by education, has had the pretention of consolidating projects of identity in Colombia. In terms of the teaching of national history, such memory has been exclusive. It denied the country´s cultural diversity and created myths, heroes, and “inaugural acts” in its existence as a nation. In order to explain this matter, textbooks used for the teaching of national history represent valuable sources of investigation. This article offers an approach to this problem, underlying the need to include this type of sources in the exploration of long-term social processes related to the formation of the Colombian nation. |
