description RESUMEN: El artículo incluye elementos conceptuales y metodológicos que orientan la línea de investigación sobre formación de profesores de ciencias naturales, del Grupo Perspectivas de Investigación en Educación en Ciencias – PiEnCias. La inserción profesional docente, es uno de los temas que desarrollamos para comprender la relación entre formación y investigación docente. Los resultados obtenidos con maestros en formación inicial y principiantes, muestran la necesidad de realizar estudios, donde los participantes puedan aprender a tomar decisiones y reconocerse como integrantes de una comunidad académica que tiene como reto, mejorar continuamente su práctica docente y, por ende, aportar en su propio desarrollo profesional.
