Summary: | Community-based tourism has become an alternative to promote sustainable development and the conservation of the cultural and natural heritage of local communities. In this context, the 3rd commune of Santa Marta, Pescaito neighborhood, has developed a community-based tourism strategy to strengthen its cultural identity and promote the active participation of the community in tourism management. This research aims to analyze the community-based tourism strategy in the 3rd commune of Santa Marta, Pescaito neighborhood, as a tool for tourism competitiveness and the strengthening of the community's cultural identity. To achieve this goal, a literature review on community-based tourism, sustainable development, responsible tourism, and social and solidarity economy was carried out. In addition, a case study was conducted in the Pescaito neighborhood, through interviews with local actors and participant observation. The results of the research indicate that communitybased tourism has contributed to the strengthening of the community's cultural identity and the generation of economic and social benefits for the community. However, greater coordination and collaboration between local actors are required to strengthen the community-based tourism strategy and improve its impact on the community. |
