Se realizó un estudio con enfoque cualitativo con siete docentes de diferentes posgrados. Los resultados apuntan a que los docentes perciben la empatía y asertividad como habilidades sociales fundamentales para el desarrollo de su práctica docente y además reconocen que para llevar a cabo la aplicación de dichas habilidades sociales no necesariamente deben estar incluidas en el plan de estudios de los diferentes programas de posgrado. Abstract: This article presents an investigation that seeks to understand the perceptions of postgraduate teachers of the Faculty of Social, Human Sciences and Education of the Catholic University of Pereira. A study with a qualitative approach was carried out with seven teachers from different postgraduate degrees. The results indicate that teachers perceive empathy and assertiveness as fundamental social skills for the development of their teaching practice and also recognize that to carry out the application of these social skills they do not necessarily have to be included in the curriculum of the different graduate programs.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
