It presents an approach to the conceptualization of Non-Formal Education and Popular Education in Latin America. The researches inquire about the tracing of concepts, historical construction in the continent and alternative practices. To develop the documentary review, a work plan was elaborated in which history, practices and their methodology and bibliographic search were categorized; the most transcendent contributions of each category were selected; finally, the analysis of the documents was carried out. It should be noted that Non-Formal Education and Popular Education are developed in similar contexts.El artículo es una revisión de la literatura que estudia 45 documentos publicados entre el 2010 y el 2021. Se presenta un acercamiento a la conceptualización de la Educación No Formal y la Educación Popular en América Latina. Las investigaciones indagan sobre el rastreo de conceptos, construcción histórica en el continente y prácticas alternativas. Para desarrollar la revisión documental, se elaboró un plan de trabajo en el que se categorizó la historia, las prácticas y su metodología y el rastreo bibliográfico; se seleccionaron los aportes más trascendentes de cada categoría; finalmente, se realizó el análisis de los documentos. Se destaca que la Educación No Formal y la Educación Popular se desarrollan en contextos similares.Este artigo apresenta uma revisão da literatura de 45 artigos publicados no período entre 2010 e 2021, que desenvolvem uma abordagem dos conceitos de Educação Não Formal e Educação Popular (E. P.) no campo da América Latina; a partir desses conceitos, faz-se uma reflexão que destaca o valor social dessas duas dimensões educacionais para enfrentar os desafios educacionais do século XXI.
