Para ello partimos de la premisa que el mundo que vivimos implica afrontar retos de distinto orden, uno de estos retos es continuar construyendo una educación capaz de formar al individuo para desenvolverse en la compleja y diversa sociedad actual. Esto significa, que la región Caribe requiere una educación que no solamente se centre en la transmisión de nuevos conocimientos y en el aprendizaje de habilidades y destrezas tecnológicas para desempeñarse en los espacios laborales, sino una educación fundamentada en el reconocimiento de la diversidad sociocultural y económica de su entorno social.
