The firm also had to face several obstaclesconcerning procedures related to the export of services in Colombia,the nationalization of foreign currency and electronic transactions fromtheir international clients. Dewak developed several competitive advantageswhich helped to sustain its growth objectives. The future developmentof the firm, however, does not only depend on its current servicesbut also on the development of an own software product, as emphasizedby the founders.This case study can be applied in entrepreneurship or internationalbusiness courses to illustrate the process of founding and developmentof a so called born global firm from Colombia. The case might also beof interest to scholars from the field of international entrepreneurshipwhere a dearth of empirical studies prevails in the context of Colombia.Este caso de estudio muestra como cinco emprendedores jóvenescrearonuna micro-empresa, llamada Dewak, en Colombia con el fin decomercializar sus servicios de personalización de software en el mercadoglobal. Diferentes estrategias promocionales de Internet le ayudaron a laempresa de posicionarse en el mercado y así poder conseguir un crecientenúmero de clientes. Varios también fueron los obstáculos con cuales seenfrentaron los fundadores en Colombia respecto a los procedimientos ytrámites de exportación de servicios, la nacionalización de divisas y lastransacciones electrónicas. La empresa desarrolló varias ventajas competitivaspara sostener sus metas de crecimiento.
