Summary: | The present investigation is framed within the critical rationalist approach and supported within the quantitative paradigm, which was carried out with the main objective of configuring a proposal of didactic mediation based on music, for the strengthening of mathematical reasoning in engineering students of THE UNIVERSITY OF THE COAST in Barranquilla Colombia in the year of 2019. To fulfill this purpose, it was necessary to choose 35 students who are part of the culture department attached to the vice-rectory of well-being, where they study areas related to instrumental musical training and on the other hand, 53 students from the same engineering faculty, who are not part of any musical training workshop. to which a 45-question questionnaire was carried out, where relevant information was collected on the mathematical reasoning variable, with respect to the cognitive, procedural and evaluative dimensions, and similarly to the variable called music-based didactic mediation, with respect to the cognitive, didactic and curricular dimensions. Through the direct observation of the aforementioned instruments, the statistical results between the two populations were contrasted from an inferential analysis in each of the dimensions associated with each variable, achieving evidence that there really is a correlation between music and strengthening of the mathematical reasoning in engineering students who interpret a musical instrument, given these results, it can be concluded as a contribution to science and education, that music can and should be used in higher education, as an effective tool to enhance this competition, important in the training of future engineers. |
