Summary:The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of ICT mediation on improving reading comprehension of fifth-grade students at the Rafael García Herreros Educational Institution in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia. To do this, an intervention was proposed in a sample of 35 fifth grade students, using ICT-based strategies to improve their reading comprehension. This work represents an explanatory descriptive investigation, applying various techniques, stories such as research, testing, direct observation. And, construction of a pre-experimental design, using this technique to make use of the pre-test as a diagnostic activity. Subsequently, they intervened with interactive strategies and follow-up workshops. Finally, a post-test was applied to analyze and record the results of the intervention, associated with the students' progress, on their levels of reading comprehension. The results showed that 74% of the students improved from literacy to critical reading and from low to high achievement. Furthermore, 24% of the children managed to go from the literal to the inferential level. In conclusion, ICT mediation contributed to strengthening the fifth grade reading comprehension process of said institution
