Summary:The Research on Reading and Writing Practices: An Integrative Didactic Proposal for the Development of Communication Competences, it is a research in education, which was conducted with the participation of eleven teachers from the areas of Science, Social Studies, Spanish and Mathematics, and Ninth grade students from Santa Bernardita Public School of the city of Barranquilla-Colombia. As a qualitative research, with an ethnographic focus, centered on a critical-hermeneutic paradigm. It sought to know the educational reality around the reading and writing practices of teachers in the basic areas. In the analysis of the data, weaknesses referred to the methodology, the planning, the integration of the contents and the work in equipment by the different areas in relation to the development of the communicative skills of the students were evidenced. The results obtained allowed to establish that it is necessary for teachers to know and apply various teaching strategies focused on strengthening their reading and writing practices in the classroom, which is why the Proposal for Accompanying Teaching Practices (PATP) as a didactic proposal with an integrating vision of learning, which will help to improve the pedagogical approach of teachers in terms of reading and writing didactic strategies; as well as, to integrate the knowledge of students to strengthen their communication skills.
