Summary: | This research project was developed with the purpose of improved reading comprehension at the literal, inferential and critical-propositional levels with use of board games in fifth grade students. It was descriptive research because there is an interpretation of phenomena that emerged from the instruments to be analyzed, its approach was mixed (qualitative, quantitative). His research design had three fundamental stages: the collection of data, which was a structured interview to five Spanish language teachers and a questionnaire to 50 fifth grade students; the measuring and the sample which were done with a pretest to 25 students as experimental group and 25 students to control group. Subsequently, intervention technique was carried out by applying three board games to experimental group, finally, the postest was made in both groups, referring to the three levels of reading comprehension. The last stage of this research proved the hypothesis’ veracity because with use of board games the use of board games improved reading comprehension skills such us literal, inferential, and criticalpropositional levels in the fifth-grade students of the Colegio de Culture Popular I.E.D. Besides, this strategy reinforced values such as friendship, empathy, respect, responsibility and solidarity; it permitted innovation of the pedagogical practices, integral education and students’ motivation. The challenge will be to continue creating board games to improve cognitive skills, resources for their design, teacher training and educational community support. |
