Description
Summary:The low performance in problem solving competence in the area of mathematics is a concern both internationally and nationally, this situation is also reflected in the John F. Kennedy Educational Institution, in the 3rd grade students of Elementary School. Therefore, there is a marked interest in improving the quality of educational processes and specifically the results produced by the ISCE and knowing that the learning of mathematics should give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge outside the school environment. This implies reviewing the learning strategies in the teaching of mathematics, these should promote the development of competences proper to the area, especially the resolution of problems that is considered according to curricular referents as the central axis of the mathematics curriculum, hence the need to develop the present research and apply pedagogical strategies such as the Singapore Method, which allows quality improvements in the teaching-learning processes of this area in the school according to studies carried out on it. The type of research was quasi-experimental, under a positivist paradigm and a quantitative approach. The target population were students in the 3rd grade of Primary Basics. An evaluation instrument was applied with Pre-test and Post-test, which gave as results improvements in the experimental group and allowed to establish the positive effect of the Singapore Method in the problem-solving competence.
