Summary:This article presents a study in the scientific field of didactics of teaching for reading comprehension, with a qualitative focus focuses on the characterization of the practices of four teachers of ninth grade, secondary level; where using instruments such as the interview with semi-structured questions, as well as the rubric of observation, describe the beliefs and knowledge of the mediators in the processes towards meta cognition; in the same way, the convergences and divergences were analyzed, with the purpose of unveiling the influence that these have on the processes of teaching and learning. The analysis of these components leads to reflection, to self-analysis, and to the construct of an improvement plan based on effective pedagogical strategies for the teaching of reading comprehension
