Summary:The research project develops the Storytelling as a didactic strategy for the improvement of the oral production of English, it was structured under a mixed approach, with pre-experimental design, applying a test is two moments. Thirty seventh-grade students and four English teachers from the Clemente Manuel Zabala Educational Institution in the city of Cartagena participated. Data collection techniques and instruments were used such as: The test (pretest - postest), rubric, document review, semi-structured interview, Virtual Learning Environment based on didactic workshops and a questionnaire. The results showed that for teachers and students, it is important to have learning environments with strategies such as Storytelling because, improve communication skills in English, evidenced by the results obtained from the implementation of the didactic strategy, given that at the beginning of this, 70% of the students were in low level and at the end, 77% of the students passed to higher level; In addition, they proved reflective about the importance of acquiring TIC skills, to develop oral production of English. The conclusions highlight the relevance of developing Storytelling as a didactic strategy for improving the oral production of English in students of basic education.
