Summary:The research aims to understand how classroom practices of teachers in the I.E.D. Loma del Bálsamo based on actions of the Transformational Leadership, whose central theoretical referents are the approaches of Burns (1978) and Bass (1985), and the Anijovich (2010) approaches. In addition, the contributions of authors such as Antonio Bolívar-Botía (2010), Maureira (2013) and González (2013) are valued. The methodological process involved an action research, which began with the characterization of teaching practices, which was done through the application of an observation rubric, and then, together with the focused teachers, prioritize those categories that presented the most tensions and low performance, which led to the application of a semi-structured interview, which provided the main points to develop an action plan consisting of activities based on transformational leadership actions that lead to the improvement of these practices. In a third moment the action plan was developed and, finally with the discussion group, a reflection was made about the results of the applied action plan. The results of the research reflected that the practices of teachers in the I.E.D. Loma del Bálsamo were deficient and presented tensions especially in categories such as teamwork, charisma, empowerment and communication, which generated a poor performance in their work. After applying the intervention plan with activities based on actions of the transformational leadership, a strong motivation was generated in the teachers, which made them more participative, and contributed from the change of their praxis, new attitudes to contribute to transform the culture school, as well as increase their individual and collective capacity. However, new studies are needed to determine the factors of transformational leadership in eachof the teachers of the institution, to propose actions that empower them and be true teachers transformational leaders in each of the roles in which they operate.
