Summary:Reading comprehension is one of the most assessed communicative competences in standardized exams as much as the native language as a foreign one. From this premise, the importance of analyzing was seen in the way how the use of ICTS (Information and communication technologies) could contribute to the improvement of this skill in the English language through ninth graders of high school in a public institution of Medellín-Colombia. In this sense, this study analyzes the following variables: English didactics mediated through ICTS and strengthening in reading comprehension. This research is framed in a deductive rationalist focus with a propositional effect in agreement with a mixed quali-quantitative approach. The analysis units which are represented in the field design are: English teachers and eight graders of the year 2021 and ninth graders, the same students, in the year 2022. The analysis units of document type are: Institutional educative project and the English syllabus of the Educative Institution. For the field analysis, the survey technique was carried out to students, English teachers of the Educative Institution, semi-structured interviews through a focus group of students and teachers. Among the main results the students’ interests towards the foreign language learning due to the use of ICTS tools during the pandemic and its influence in reading comprehension are outlined. Finally, it is highlighted the importance of continuing to enrich the classes with more ICTS resources to strengthen the English communicative skills focused mainly on reading.
