Summary: | The objective of this scientific research is to measure the impact Geogebra (ICT) in the teaching and learning of geometry in the group of students of 9thlevel of Basic Education in High School, which will improve academic performance in the area. This course is mandatory however, it has been noticed that teachers are not applying the correct strategies for students in order to achieve understanding and interpreting graphs, analyze and formulate hypotheses, identify relevant aspects of a situation, problem solving activities linking geometrical concepts with other areas of knowledge such as art concepts, history. For this research it has been taken into account the quasiexperimental design, It has bell taken a sample of 65 students in two classrooms 9ºA and 9ºB respectively. They were administered a previous and aftermost -test. The results were compared, so that in 9thA classroom (experimental), geometry classes were conducted with Geogebra (ICT) program, with 9thB classroom, geometry classes were given using traditional methods. By applying the post-test to both groups, we observed a significant difference in 9ºa class room student, their results in relation to the acquisition of knowledge in geometry and improving their academic performance. In 9ºB classroom students the results were not the best, presenting problems in the scope of performance in geometry and equally variability in the results being shown that the use of Geogebra program as a teaching strategy not only enhances the teaching and learning of geometry area, but contributes to the improvement of mathematical logic skills |
