Description
Summary:This study represents a research initiative in the field of mathematics, with the aim of enriching variational thinking among secondary school students. This approach seeks to enhance fundamental cognitive processes such as reasoning, communication, and modeling through the formulation and resolution of problems in various contexts. It was carried out at Colegio Benedictino de Santa María with 11th-grade students. The main objective was to strengthen the understanding and application of variational thinking among students through the use of games as a pedagogical strategy. This project is situated within the qualitative-descriptive research paradigm, employing practical classroom activities as a methodological tool for conducting a diagnosis. The purpose of this diagnosis is to identify and explain the difficulties or progress that students exhibit, using indicators established by the Ministry of National Education. The focus is on the development of cognitive processes associated with variational thinking. The results obtained were evaluated through qualitative and quantitative analyses, including tests administered before and after the implementation of the game-based methodology. The findings provide a clear insight into the positive impact of the pedagogical strategy, highlighting improvements in conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and students' interest in the subject.
