Summary: | The purpose of this article was to analyze the relationships between education and technology fields and categories. Methodologically, the research assumed a historical and cultural perspective, recognizing that the concepts and categories were socially developed based on historical and political contexts. This paper is divided into three parts: the first one analyzes the first relationship between education and technology configured during the 17th and 19th centuries. The second part shows how this relationship acquired distinctive characteristics related to the two world wars, the Cold War, and the beginning of the Globalization in the 20th century. The third part shows some of the tensions that it implied in the 21st century. The text ends with perspectives for future investigations. © 2016, Centro de Estudos Educacao e Sociedade - CEDES.
