Hilda Herzer
Hilda María Herzer (1938, Buenos Aires - 25 August 2012) was an Argentine sociologist, environmentalist and professor. She was a researcher with FLACSO, and visiting professor at Universidad Nacional del Litoral.She earned her bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Buenos Aires in 1960, and her PhD in social sciences at New York University. Herzer was a pioneer in the field of urban studies in Argentina. Her fieldwork, conducted with her research group, focused on the city of Pergamino. She is remembered for her teaching and research at the Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani and for serving as director of the Research Institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Buenos Aires, 1989 and 1990. Throughout her career, she established a body of research and publications on environmental and urban issues.
