description La digitalización en los sistemas financieros ha desarrollado en el comercio electrónico diferentes alternativas para el intercambio de bienes y servicios por medio de los canales virtuales, por lo tanto, las criptomonedas han tenido un papel relevante dentro de este cambio que ha incentivado que el mercado digital se amplié. El Bitcoin es uno de los medios de intercambio más utilizado dentro del comercio electrónico que en los últimos años ha crecido de manera gradual gracias a sus características que potencian la inversión en este. El objetivo del presente trabajo es encontrar los factores en las decisiones políticas, económicas y sociales que se presentaron en algunas de las principales economías del mundo que lograron influir en la alta volatilidad de este criptoactivo, por lo tanto, se busca identificar aspectos y elementos relevantes para lograr entender su manejo dentro del mundo digital. La metodología empleada para el desarrollo de la investigación fue cualitativa y descriptiva, los datos analizados dieron pautas para comprender de mejor manera los movimientos de Bitcoin, aunque no se puede predecir con exactitud cuál será su siguiente fluctuación, se dan elementos que logran exponer cual es el mejor contexto para invertir.
