Although the economic analysis in terms of “property rights” started in the early 1960’s by Alchian, Coase and Demsetz, the concept itself was familiar to Classical Political Economists. In its broad sense, the definition of property rights was present in Adam Smith’s Lectures of 1762-63. It evolved significantly with Ricardo (1817), Senior (1836), and J.S. Mill (1848). Recalling the ideas of the Classics about the rights to own and use the basic production factors-namely labour, land and capital- and their output, will considerably improve the current debate.application/pdftext/htmlapplication/xml10.18601/01245996.v18n34.022346-24500124-5996https://bdigital.uexternado.edu.co/handle/001/12088https://doi.org/10.18601/01245996.v18n34.02spaUniversidad Externado de Colombiahttps://revistas.uexternado.edu.co/index.php/ecoins/article/download/4499/5166https://revistas.uexternado.edu.co/index.php/ecoins/article/download/4499/5842https://revistas.uexternado.edu.co/index.php/ecoins/article/download/4499/8412Núm. 34 , Año 2016 : Enero-Junio28341318Revista de Economía InstitucionalAckroyd, P. “Greek lessons for property right arrangements: Justice and nature protection”, American Journal of Economics and Sociology 51, 1992, pp. 19-26.Alchian, A. “Private property and the relative cost of tenure”, D.
