The purpose of this text is to study the possibility of perceiving the information of CAD files displaying the design and mechanisms of functional firearms, as a manifestation of the freedom of speech in the United States. This scenario being presented by the Liberator, the first known 3D printed gun. The discussion arises not only as a consequence of code being recognized as a form of language, but also considering the political meaning that firearms have in the North American territory. In order to achieve this objective, this document proposes a study structured under the methodology of the Science and Technology Studies (STS). Therefore, concepts like technology and its impact over the human being must be studied beyond the legal perspective. Under this proposition, the content of the First and the Second Amendment and the public perception of them are going to be analyzed. Finally, the potential relationships between those constitutional texts, the population and the particular matter of firearms created through additive manufacturing are going to be examined.application/pdftext/html10.18601/16571959.n34.072346-21161657-1959https://bdigital.uexternado.edu.co/handle/001/26247https://doi.org/10.18601/16571959.n34.07spaCentro de Estudios de la Propiedad Intelectualhttps://revistas.uexternado.edu.co/index.php/propin/article/download/8458/13393https://revistas.uexternado.edu.co/index.php/propin/article/download/8458/13394Núm. 34 , Año 2022 : Julio-Diciembre19334163Revista La Propiedad InmaterialAgencia de Alcohol, Tabaco, Armas de Fuego y Explosivos de los Estados Unidos. “Does an individual need a license to make a firearm for personal use?”, 2020 [en línea].
