Summary:From their appearance in Latin America, in the middle of the 90, the observatories have been gaining - slow but progressively a greater presence in the mediate panorama of the continent. Today, one is versatile realities certainly that, however, still they try "his own figure" and whose outlines are not still totally well formed. Thus, for example, the Latin American observatories are different to each other based on variables like their origin, composition, ideological direction, their structures and ways of operation, the aspects of the means that they analyze, different methodological instruments that they use and the systematization of its activity.
