Summary: | This document analyzes the most salient contemporary sociological theories about the world social system. Such an analysis seeks to identify some elements that will help assemble analytical perspectives that combine some of the ways in which social sciences have approached global social processes and activities. The author discusses the effects of economics, and deconstructs one of the most important modes of social configuration in the last two centuries: the nation-state. In accordance with its purpose, the article briefly presents and contrasts the points of view of Peter Berger, J ̧rgen Habermas, Niklas Luhmann, Pierre Bourdieu, Alain Touraine, and Anthony Giddens, and presents original conclusions on the work of those sociologists. |
