Summary:The objective of this research is to examine the impact of sociotechnical changes in the autonomous vehicle segment in Colombia and Vietnam, for this we have included an analysis of the behavior of the automotive industry in each country and the trend in purchase intention was determined in the face of changes. Socio-technical in the countries under study. A total of 800 car drivers with more than 18 years old that lives in Colombia and Vietnam participated in personal questionnaire through a Polling Firm. The methodological contribution is related to study variables related to consumer preferences and considering environmental variables at different levels that affect the adoption of this type of new technologies. Among the results, it is found that culture have a direct influence on the adoption of new technologies that have a lesser impact on the environment in terms of indulgence. A low degree of indulgence is directly related to the success of adopting new technologies. While in the case of psychological risks and performance risks are the restrictions that have a more direct impact on the purchase intention.
