Este artículo presenta los resultados de la investigación realizada sobre capacidades dinámicas de absorción, para la cual, teniendo en cuenta los aspectos que más se destacan y en los cuales están de acuerdo la mayoría de los autores consultados y con base en el análisis de contenido, se propone la definición de capacidad dinámica de absorción que guío esta investigación, se plantea un modelo de capacidad dinámica de absorción que se justifica teóricamente en sus factores determinantes, y mediante el estudio de casos como herramienta metodológica exploratoria, se buscó como objetivo conseguir un acercamiento entre las teorías analizadas en la revisión de literatura y la realidad objeto de estudio, para indagar sobre un fenómeno contemporáneo en su entorno real, estableciendo una cadena de evidencia, resultado de la transcripción de la entrevista semi-estructurada, identificando un patrón de comportamiento común y buscando crear una explicación de los resultados del estudio de caso realizado a tres empresas, encontrando como hallazgos que la capacidad dinámica de absorción en las organizaciones, es muy disímil, son específicas de cada empresa, las empresas con alto nivel de capacidades dinámicas de absorción tienden a ser proactivas, explotan las oportunidades presentes en el ambiente, buscan oportunidades para desarrollar sus capacidades tecnológicas y de innovación, son capaces de beneficiarse en mayor medida del conocimiento externo, valoran qué información puede ser útil, cómo compartirla rápidamente por toda la organización y cómo utilizarla con propósitos comerciales para mejorar sus metas estratégicas.Palabras claves: Capacidades de absorción; Reconocimiento; Adquisición; Asimilación; Transformación; Explotación; absorption capability; recognition; acquisition; assimilation; transformation; exploitation |

Analysing the content of already published work led to proposing a definition of dynamic absorption capability for orientating this investigation; a model of dynamic absorption capability was adopted which was theoretically justified regarding its determinant factors. Case studies were used as an exploratory methodological tool for searching for rapprochement between the theories discussed in the literature review and case studies concerned with dynamic absorption capability for investigating a contemporary phenomenon in its real environment. A chain of evidence was established from the transcripts of semi-structured interviews; a common pattern of behaviour was identified, seeking to create an explanation for the results of three companies’ case studies. It was found that organisations’ dynamic absorption capability is very dissimilar; it is specific regarding each company.
