Como consecuencia se produce reducción de la fertilidad o infertilidad en los animales portadores debido a la producción de gametos no funcionales, mortalidad embrionaria, o anomalías en el desarrollo del sistema reproductivo.Este artículo hace una revisión de las mutaciones cromosómicas reportadas con más frecuencia en bovinos destacando su efecto sobre la reproducción de los animales portadores y la transmisión a su descen- dencia.Palabras claves: bovinos, mutaciones cromosómicas, reproducción, fertilidad, freemartinismo, translocación robertsoniana 1/29, aneuploidías.ABSTRACT: Chromosomal abnormalities are variations in the number or the structure of the chromosomes in a species.
