El tiempo universitario se convierte en un paso crítico en el desarrollo de estilos de vida. Hay una alta prevalencia de factores de riesgo de enfermedades no transmisibles en estudiantes universitarios. El objetivo de este trabajo fue revisar bibliografía publicada en los últimos 10 años con respecto al diagnóstico de factores cardiovasculares en jóvenes universitarios en Colombia y Latinoamérica (estimación de frecuencias, características sociodemográficas, asociaciones con otras enfermedades u obesidad), enfatizando en las diferentes definiciones y conclusiones encontradas. Entre los factores de riesgo se encontró tabaquismo, sedentarismo, sobrepeso, obesidad, bajo consumo de fruta y consumo de vegetales, y alto consumo de grasas saturadas. Se encontraron diferencias en los factores de riesgo cardiovascular de acuerdo con el género, curso y facultad de los estudiantes La metodología se basó en un estudio retrospectivo, descriptivo y explicativo, donde las revistas científicas principales fueron de: Biomédica, Pudmed, Scopus, Sicmago, Elsevier, fuentes importantes de revisión bibliográfica en la actualidad.MedicoPregradoUniversity students are in a key vital stage for the adoption of lifestyles that will be practiced in the family, society and work.
