The objective of this work is to analyze the main sustainability reports presented by the United Nations, facing the challenges of sustainable development. Likewise, in accordance with this purpose, the aim is to identify the challenges of sustainable development formulated by the UN for the different sectors and thus determine the criteria established for these challenges. The methodology used was qualitative, which through documentary analysis allows reaching knowledge through the understanding of the phenomena and relationships investigated, as well as generating a possible theoretical explanation of the results. In this research, the term Sustainability and the researched variables, allow to propose solutions to problems generated in the different universal spheres, through policies and state economies that do not affect the environment and allow counteracting the global problems. Among the results obtained, it can be shown that despite the multiple reports submitted by the United Nations, the environmental deterioration continues to increase and the objective of raising awareness among the human being, through state, national and international policies, which will control the development of a sustainable economy in the short, medium and long term, has not been enough to achieve sustainability in universal Spheres (Human, environmental, economic, political and social).Con base en el informe de Brundtland, la Sostenibilidad es la capacidad del ser humano de satisfacer las necesidades presentes a través del uso responsable de los recursos, sin poner en peligro la capacidad de las generaciones futuras para satisfacer sus propias necesidades. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar los principales informes de sostenibilidad presentados por las Naciones Unidas, frente a los retos del desarrollo sostenible. De igual forma, de acuerdo con este propósito se pretende identificar los retos del desarrollo sostenible formulados por la ONU para los diferentes sectores y así determinar los criterios establecidos para dichos retos. La metodología utilizada fue cualitativa, la cual a través del análisis documental permite llegar al conocimiento por medio de la comprensión de los fenómenos y relaciones investigadas, así como generar una posible explicación teórica de los resultados. En esta investigación el término Sostenibilidad y las variables investigadas, permiten proponer soluciones a problemas generados en las diferentes esferas universales, a través de políticas y economías estatales que no afecten el medio ambiente y permitan contrarrestar las problemáticas mundiales.
