La aparición de infecciones asociadas a la atención sanitaria (IAAS) en el cuidado posoperatorio constituye una complicación frecuente que independientemente de todas las medidas de prevención y control, aumenta la morbilidad y mortalidad de estos pacientes; pues, además de comprometer los resultados de las intervenciones, favorecen la aparición de otras complicaciones, en ocasiones fatales, con repercusiones socioeconómicas muy desfavorables para el paciente y las instituciones sanitarias. Por tal motivo, este tema es de importancia en el ámbito de la salud ya que su origen es multifactorial y su prevalencia puede variar dependiendo el tipo de abordaje de la cirugía, el tipo de herida, localización y gérmenes propios de la institución, de acuerdo con esto, en el presente estudio se realizó una revisión bibliográfica delimitado en los países de Colombia, Perú, Ecuador y Cuba para así determinar la prevalencia de infección de sitio quirúrgico en pacientes los cuales fueron llevados a apendicectomía y determinar los factores que influyen para el aumento de la misma.MedicoPregradoIn spite of the advances in septic, anesthetic, surgical and antibiotic techniques, infections constitute a major risk factor for the operated patient and with a greater commitment when it is related to the intraperitoneal cavity. The appearance of infections associated with health care (IAAS) in postoperative care is a frequent complication that, regardless of all prevention and control measures, increases the morbidity and mortality of these patients; since, in addition to compromising the results of the interventions, they favor the appearance of other complications, sometimes fatal, with very unfavorable socioeconomic repercussions for the patient and the health institutions.
