Sin embargo, la realización de las mismas lleva consigo una alta tasa de complicaciones que tienen su incidencia de presentación durante el primer año post quirúrgico, se ha intentado clasificar las mismas de distintas formas, sin embargo, la más utilizada en la actualidad hace alusión a complicaciones infecciosas, mecánicas y funcionales; por ello buscamos plantear una revisión retrospectiva en la que abordaremos las principales complicaciones que conlleva la realización del procedimiento ya mencionado y se analizaran componentes que influyen para la presentación de las mismas, tales como factores de riesgo en común, técnica quirúrgica y evolución postoperatoria.MedicoPregradoVentriculoperitoneal shunts are currently considered as the mainstay for the treatment of hydrocephalus regardless of age group, sex and etiology. However, the performance of these procedures involves a high rate of complications that have their incidence of presentation during the first post-surgical year.
