Con respecto a sus causas, no existe un acuerdo sobre un sistema que unifique la clasificación de las causas de la FC. Dentro de las categorías se encuentran pacientes presentan diferentes enfermedades de origen cardiovascular y no cardiovascular. Las 3 principales causas de FC son: la cardiopatía hipertensiva, la cardiopatía isquémica asociada con un infarto previo y la miocardiopatía dilatada. En los países latinoamericanos, los factores de riesgo relacionados con falla cardíaca muestran ser una combinación entre condiciones propias de países desarrollados y otras existentes sobre todo en países tercermundistas. Usualmente, los síntomas no son específicos y por lo tanto no ayudan a discriminar entre la falla cardiaca u otras patologías. Los síntomas y signos pueden ser difíciles de identificar e interpretar en personas obesas, ancianas o con enfermedad pulmonar crónica, debido a esto es necesaria una historia clínica detallada. Esta enfermedad es poco común en pacientes con historias clínicas que carecen de comorbilidades. El diagnóstico puede llegar a complicarse, ya que como se mencionó anteriormente los síntomas pueden estar presentes en otras enfermedades y muchos de los signos pueden relacionarse con retención hidrosalina y ser inespecíficos. En gran parte llegar a un diagnóstico acertado dependerá de una historia clínica minuciosa y examen físico completo apoyado por múltiples pruebas diagnósticas. Su clasificación puede realizarse según la fracción de eyección del ventrículo izquierdo y también según la gravedad de los síntomas, intolerancia al ejercicio y estadios de la enfermedad. Con respecto al tratamiento, es sintomático; es decir, no existe un tratamiento curativo para esta patología, por tanto, su objetivo es mejorar el estado clínico, la capacidad funcional y la calidad de vida, prevenir las hospitalizaciones y reducir la mortalidad.MedicoPregradoHeart failure is a syndrome in which the structure of the heart and its function are affected, which produces a poor pumping of the blood necessary for the proper functioning of the body's tissues. The diagnosis can be complicated, since, as mentioned above, the symptoms can be present in other diseases and many of the signs can be related to hydrosaline retention and be nonspecific. To a large extent, reaching an accurate diagnosis will depend on a thorough medical history and a complete physical examination supported by multiple diagnostic tests. Its classification can be done according to the left ventricular ejection fraction and also according to the severity of the symptoms, exercise intolerance and stages of the disease.
