Description
Summary:The present explanatory scope study, longitudinal cut with quasi-experimental design of pre-test pos-test and control group, determined the incidence of a specific force resistance program of upper limbs on the cycle length and armful frequency of the 400 meter test freestyle of a group of 12 swimmers youth category A of the Orcas Tuluá Club, divided into two groups, the experimental group conformed by six athletes, which was intervined under the specific force resistance program of upper limbs, which in this case was variable Independent ; on the other hand, the other six athletes conformed the control group, who continued with their usual training program. Among the most important results, it stands out that the experimental group got better the cycle length, displacing 0.06 m (6 cm) more for each cycle; likewise, a level of improvement was observed in the record of the 400 meter test, where descreased 0.13 ’(7.8”) when taking the test; Lastly, regarding the armful frequency, there were no noticeable changes. On the other hand, in the control group the evidenced that there were no differences in the cycle lenght, where 0.02 m (2 cm) more were displaced for each armful cycle; in the same way, her record in the 400 meter test was maintained, decreasing 0.01 ’(0.6”); where finally the frequency not have an improvement level either. In this way, it is concluded that the resistance strength program specifies, presented effects in the cycle length and decreasing the records in the experimental group test, thus validating the research hypothesis, with levels of significance for the test of independent samples less than .05 (p = 0.041 for the cycle length, p = .004 for the test record). .
