La planta cuenta con varias unidades de trabajo que requieren para su funcionamiento de una distribución constante de aire comprimido y hasta el momento no se disponía de un sistema que permitiera el funcionamiento de cada unidad en forma constante y óptima. Este trabajo se considera una investigación aplicada porque a partir de la investigación teórica y de los conocimientos adquiridos a lo largo de la carrera se diseñó e instaló el sistema de aire comprimido en el laboratorio de Ingeniería Industrial. Para determinar el diseño más adecuado se propusieron varias ideas hasta que se seleccionó la que más se adecuaba a los requerimientos de la planta. Se realizó una planeación previa del trabajo a desarrollar que comprendió la elaboración de un plan de trabajo, la elaboración de planos de los diferentes componentes del sistema y el manual de procedimiento para operar el sistema de aire comprimido.
