This is thanks to the fact that the commercial poultry farmer is limited to buying terminal birds that are slaughtered after production and replaced with the purchase of new animals from companies that are in charge of this function and supply the poultry farmers. This biotechnology can be used specifically in the creation of new lines (by producers and suppliers), and in exotic animals such as ostriches, ducks, turkeys and quails, as well as in the salvation of wild birds in danger of extinction. This technique, however, is little known. This work describes the technique of semen collection in birds and its subsequent use by means of artificial insemination. For the collection of information, databases such as Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, Google Scholar were investigated using keywords, inclusion criteria such as reports from 2019 to the current date and articles from all countries. The exclusion criteria were articles prior to 2019 and articles that focus on species other than birds. The cryopreservatives used and the new additives that are being used to improve fertility rates are described. It is recommended to carry out research work on wild animals in captivity and on native breeds in order to preserve these species.
