Due the similarity in the pathophysiology described for COVID-19 and ARDS, the objective of the present work is to determine the relationship between critical illness due to COVID-19 with respect to the proportion of acute kidney injury and mortality compared to critical patients with ARDS. METHODS: Until June 1 of 2021, it was realized a systematic review of the literature in the databases of PubMed/Scopus/Cochrane/EMBASE/Google Scholar. To identify the relevant articles, using the following keywords as search strategies “renal complications” or “acute kidney injury” or “renal replacement therapy” or “AND” followed by “SARS-COV2” or “COVID-19” or “AND” “critically ill” for SARS-COV2 studies; while it used “renal complications” or “acute kidney injury” or “renal replacement therapy” or “AND” followed by “Acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “AND” “Not COVID-19” for ARDS studies. The studies were assessed, and the collected data was organized, then RRs, DRs and ORs; and frequency measurements were calculated for acute kidney injury, need of RRT and mortality associated.TABLA DE CONTENIDO Prevalencia de lesión renal aguda y mortalidad asociada de los pacientes críticamente enfermos que cursan con una infección por SARS-CoV2 versus un SDRA severo: una revisión sistemática de la literatura y meta análisis …………………………………………………………………………………………………… Error!
