Jorge Eliecer Gaitán de Ibagué- Tolima. Este estudio se llevó a cabo durante veinte secciones de clases, teniendo en cuenta las cinco etapas de trabajo descritas por Wrigley (1998) y la espiral de investigación-acción propuesta por Kemmis & Mc Taggart (1998). Los resultados de esta investigación de aula que fueron obtenidos a través de la triangulación de datos provenientes del diario del docente investigador, la guía del par observador y los cuestionarios a los estudiantes muestran evidencias de aprendizaje en los participantes, sus reacciones a través de las etapas de trabajo por proyectos y sus cambios potenciales en el aprendizaje de inglés los cuales apoyaron el aprendizaje significativo del inglés durante el desarrollo de esta investigación-acción, basada en el trabajo por proyectos. Esta investigación también provee un mejor entendimiento sobre la implementación de trabajo por proyectos para la enseñanza del inglés en el contexto de la enseñanza pública en Colombia.ABSTRACT This study analyzes the use of project work to support meaningful learning of English in 10th graders at Jorge Eliecer Gaitán from Ibagué, Tolima. This study was carried out during twenty class sessions, taking into account the five stages of project work described by Wrigley (1998), and the action research spiral proposed by Kemmis & Mc Taggart (1998). The results of this classroom research obtained though the triangulation of data from the researcher-teacher’s journal, the peer observer’s guide, and the student’s questionnaires show evidences of participants’ learning, their reactions towards the project work stages, and changes in the participants’ learning of English, which supported meaningful learning of English during the development of this action-research, based on project work.
