Recurso ElectrónicoEn este trabajo de grado se examina la acci´on del grupo del icosaedro sobre la esfera con el fin de estudiar el cociente de las ´orbitas. Se demuestra, en particular, que dicho espacio cociente se puede poner en correspondencia biyectiva con el espacio total de la esfera mediante una funci´on racional. La presentaci´on principal se hace en la recta proyectiva compleja, es decir, mediante polinomios homog´eneos y funciones racionales homog´eneas. Tambi´en se emplean algunos elementos muy sencillos de la Teor´ıa de los Invariantes Algebraicos.In this undergraduate thesis we examine the action of the icosahedral group I on the 2-sphere P1 (C) in order to study the structure of the quotient space P1 (C)/I. In particular, we show that there is a one-to-one rational function with domain P1 (C)/I onto P1 (C). Accordingly, we employ both homogeneous polynomials and homogeneous rational functions.
